Course Overview

If the idea of designing or modifying machines and systems in manufacturing and service industries appeals to you, then this course might just be for you. Engineering technologists are the key personnel in most engineering processes and applications-related activities. Besides modifying or designing the machines, these specialists also ensure the efficient operation of the machines, equipment installed and systems.

A diploma in mechanical engineering is the first step you should/would take in being a confident, capable and competent technical specialist in any industry. The main objective of this part-time diploma course is to train working adults to be competent in their respective fields of engineering and to upgrade their knowledge skill level.

Progression Pathway

Upon successful completion, graduates of this programme can advance on to a Bachelor in Engineering, awarded by The University of Newcastle, Australia, with advance standing (subject to University’s entry requirements).
Course Content Engineering Mathematics, Physics, Introduction to Engineering, Electrical Principles, Advance Engineering Mathematics, Machine Design, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Materials, Applied Mechanics 1 (Static), Applied Mechanics 2 (Dynamics), Thermofluid, Strength of Materials, Research Project
Duration The course can be completed in a minimum period of 2 years 8 months.
Entry Requirements The minimum entry requirements are:

• 3 credits in GCE ‘O’ levels with English at least D7, Mathematics (C6) and Science (C6 with Physics components); or

• NTC2 (Certificate in Merit) in engineering; or NITEC in engineering with GPA 3.5 above (NTC2 in engineering with Certificate in Merit); or

• ITC in engineering; or

• Higher NITEC in engineering (ITC in engineering)

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may advance to the Diploma programme upon successful completion of PSB Foundation Course for Diploma in Engineering. Modules studied include Mathematics and Physics over a period of 4 months.

Course Fee S$1,861.80 (1st 4 instalments), S$2,482.40 (5th instalment) = Total S$9,929.60
All fees are inclusive of 7% GST but exclude textbooks.
